Ahhh, our long awaited trip to Florida! Jason had a work conference in Ft. Lauderdale and we decided as a belated 15 year anniversary trip I would come along. It fell over the kids spring break so Jason left on Monday and I played with the kids till Wednesday and then Grandma Pam and Grandpa Richard took over. I flew to Atlanta where I had a short layover and tried Popeyes chicken for the first time...and the last. I arrived in Ft. Lauderdale Wednesday night and took a cab to the hotel Jason was staying in for work. I was pretty proud of myself for flying alone with a layover and getting a cab. The hotel was extremely fancy and I couldn't decide which room in our room to sit in while I waited for Jason.

While Jason had meetings on Thursday I hung out at this amazing pool. It overlooked the ocean.
A-MAZ-ING.
My favorite part was eating lunch by the pool while watching one of my shows on my iPad.
I took a walk across the street to check out the ocean. I heart the ocean.
By late afternoon Jason was finished with work and I was sufficiently burned on the places I didn't get enough sunscreen. We took a cab back to the airport to get a rental car and then grabbed some dinner and started our 3 hour drive on the overseas highway and arrived in beautiful Key West that night.
On Friday we drove 45 min. to Bahia Honda State Park. We had planned to go on a snorkeling trip but the wind was crazy and we decided to pass. Instead we spent the day reading and napping on the beach. We walked along the beach and saw some conch. We even saw two reef sharks swimming around.
Can you spot my sunburn?
Here's a little more sunburn.

That night we headed to downtown Key West and took a walk down Duval St. After looking up places to eat we decided to try Blue Heaven. It was so fun. We ate outside with chickens walking all around (chicken were walking around all over Key West). Our table was underneath a tree and our chairs were on top of the tree roots. We had amazing food and a huge piece of key lime pie and a live band. LOVED IT!
After dinner we stopped at a store called It Sugar. It had all this old school candy. We were entertained there for hours.
