Our stops included the Southernmost Point of the Continental USA. We were 90 miles from Cuba. We saw a lighthouse and Ernest Hemingway's house. We wandered through Fort Zachary and saw cannons and stopped at the Fort Zachary beach for some lunch and a little nap.
We found this place for dinner from one of those food shows. It doesn't look like much but the sandwiches were pretty tasty. We had some awesome corn that reminded us of Nacho Libre. As usual we were eating with chickens walking around us.
We accidentally took the long way home on our bike. It couldn't have been too much longer since the island is 4 miles long and 1 mile wide. We spent the rest of the evening watching house hunters and other various HGTV shows. It was awesome! On Sunday we went to the Key West branch for church. The chapel was like most chapels except it was itty bitty in size. There were people there with headphones on and an interpreter sitting in the back interpreting for the those people through a little microphone. In the announcements they talked about the Ft. Lauderdale temple open house and dedication.
Can you see the lizard in this tree?
There was a show after the airboat tour with the Gator boys from Animal Planet. We decided to pass because by then it was so HOT! We opted instead to go to a movie. It was so fun sitting inside a cool movie theatre with popcorn and a drink and only 2 other people were in the theatre. We got some Thai food on the way to our hotel and as we checked in the receptionist asked if we were on our honeymoon. Our return trip home was uneventful minus the part where we thought our flight had been cancelled. It was so nice to get back to the kids and they had a great time with Pam and Richard who we are forever grateful to for their willingness to keep the little lambs for so long. Mom also jumped in to help. We face timed with the kids on Sunday night and it was fun to see that they were happy and having a good time.
