Eat

9 days in Hawaii makes for a lot of blogging! Jason suggested doing 3 posts Eat, Pray, and Love. Not a bad idea. So I'll start with Eat and eat we did! This picture was taken in the airport. We ate more than we planned in the airport because we ate before we got on the plane and then when we got off for an hour they gave us meal vouchers to use. We used one of our vouchers to get some chocolate covered pretzels. When we were back on the plane and in the air we broke out the pretzels only to find part way through that there was at least one bug in our bag. EW. No more pretzels for us.

We headed to Laie one afternoon to say hi to some of Jason's parents friends who are serving a mission there while we were there we ate at the Kahuku Grill. We had the best coconut shrimp (and we don't even really like shrimp) and that salad that was with it was so yummy! We would have eaten there again except for it was an hour away from our hotel.

That night we went to a luau. It was fun and the food was different. Notice the purple roll on my plate. I'm not sure if watching the pig come out of the ground was appetizing or not so much. I also ate something raw there. It must have been fish and the taste wasn't horrible but I could not get past the texture. It was blazing hot and humid that day so in all our pics we are all sweaty. Ew.

One afternoon we ate sandwiches out on the beach and after took a little nap. This was my view before napping.

We (especially Jason) really like Thai food so after roaming the streets of Honolulu one night we decided to eat at Keo's a Thai place. It was pretty good and we branched out and had shrimp in our yellow curry. We also got to sit outside/inside which made it all the more fun.

I'm making a weird face in this picture and it reminds me of how after we took that picture we were eating our leftovers in the car and I found a BUG in my rice. If you are keeping count we are up to 2 bugs now in our food! The other picture is on our patio and you can see the little table and that's where we ate once for dinner and once for lunch.

Besides the Kahuku Grill our favorite spot to eat was Eggs 'n Things. In fact it was so nice we ate there twice! They had these HUGE omelets and yummy pancakes with coconut in them and coconut syrup we almost finished off a whole thing of syrup by ourselves. Then we bought some syrup to bring home. We ate sitting at a counter that was open so we were eating half inside half outside again. So fun.

We had lunch one day at Senor Frogs. We had nachos and they weren't the best tasting but again we were eating outside on a two story high patio so that made it fun (I went from the beach to meet Jason for lunch thus the swim like apparel)

We drove to the North Shore one evening after snorkeling and made a stop at Matsumoto's where you get AMAZING shaved ice. We got ours with sweet and condensed milk on top and ice cream in the bottom. It was so worth the drive and if it was closer to our hotel we probably would have had one every day!

While at the North Shore we decided to get some dinner (we had our shaved ice dessert first, we were getting wild and crazy, hehe)
So after our second attempt at Mexican food we came to the conclusion that Hawaii isn't really the place for Mexican food but we were eating outside yet again with beautiful weather and scenery so we were happy.

We also had Thai food another night when we went out to eat with Jason's boss who was also in town on business. Jason had a work dinner on my birthday so I was solo for dinner and I walked to a Pizza Hut and got a pizza. LOVED IT. Another day when Jason was at work I couldn't decide what to do about lunch so I ended up at the ABC store and got Funyons and a Haagen Daaz bar. Hmmmm, no wonder my shorts didn't fit quite right when I got home!

I like Jason's idea of how to do the posts.
I don't know if I could eat at all after finding the bugs! Ew is right! Sounds like the rest of it was pretty yummy.
