Labor Day Weekend

Ever since we saw the Sheepdog competition sign on our way to Swiss Days a few years ago Jason has always wanted to check it out. With no other plans for Labor Day we decided to give it a whirl. Never mind that the places to get discount tickets were closed on Labor Day or that you had to pay to park or that the cost was OUTRAGEOUS and more expensive on Monday than any other day of the competition. It was all in the name of family fun.

We started out by watching the sheepdog herding competition. It was ok but a little slow for the kids. So we moved onto the splash dog competition. This was much more entertaining and we spent most of our time there except for a brief stop by the duck herding.

Lets be honest. This day was really for Jason. He LOVED it. The kids could take it or leave it.

It was a little bit windy but we weren't complaining. Better than being HOT!

When we first arrived they gave us a scavenger hunt sheet to visit the vendors and find hidden sheep. Then you'd get a stamp and turn it in for a stuffed bear. While we were out searching Jonah came upon this camel exhibit. The child had no fear and just walked right into the cage.

Graham made a stop at the Olympic thingy.

We searched for those silly sheep so we could get our stamps and our stuffed animal but it was getting crowded, we were getting hungry, and Jonah was just plain done. So Graham and I went to ask if we could get a stuffed bear even though we didn't get all the stamps. I think I must have looked pretty haggard because the lady didn't even question me she just handed me the bear.

After we left we drove by Deer Creek Reservoir on the way to lunch and saw these surfing parasailing people.

Then we had a tender moment at lunch as the boys nicely shared their rootbeer. I was very impressed!

We've always wondered how this actually was to go to! I didn't get the feeling from your blog that it was worth all the bucks, but I'll have to ask you in person some time! Love the tender moment picture!

I always been a little interested myself to see what goes on up there at the sheep dog competition. Now, I have lived through you and I'll just go on your experience. ;) That last picture is really cute though.

Sheepdog what? I must not get out much because I have never heard of such a thing. And by the way, would you get your fairy skills fixed for heavens sake :)
