We wanted to insulate the inside walls of the house ourselves. They told us there would only be 1 day between them putting in the outside wall insulation and drywalling so we would have to watch and be fast to add our own insulation. We were getting ready to leave for Bear Lake and were worried we would have to come home to do the insulation. As luck would have it 2 days before we left I drove by the house one evening and the insulation people were just finishing up. We had until the next day to do ours. It was already 5:00 and poor Jason had come down with a terrible cold. We didn't have a choice it had to be done that night so we went to Home Depot and bought the insulation and then Jason and I along with Richard headed to the house. Unfortunately it took WAY longer than I had anticipated and it was crazy HOT. I had to run to Home Depot for MORE insulation. When we ran out the second time we decided we'd have to finish up in the morning. By morning Jason felt so terrible so Graham and I made another trip to Home Depot (6am) and with a bread knife for cutting and gloves on we went to work. I was so proud of Graham. He worked so hard and fast and the two of us got it finished by 8am. I rewarded Graham with french toast sticks from Sonic.
Our next drama was our granite. They had us go to a "slab yard" to pick out our exact slab. We waited for 40 min for the lady to come show us the slabs. Then they inform us that they are out of the granite we picked and that there is no more coming...ever! WHAT! We had painstakingly picked out our flooring, cabinets, and granite to all match with each other and the paint. It was so not ok for our granite to be unavailable. I panicked and called our decorator lady and she talked me down. They ended up offering us a higher end granite that would still match without charging us more. Then we had to drive to another slab yard to pick our slab. In the end the lady ended up giving us granite in our bathrooms too. It was crazy stressful but all worked out in the end.
Ah, next was the flooring drama. Below is a sample of the flooring we ordered. A week before they were ready to lay it they found out it was out of stock and wouldn't be in for a LONG time. Long enough that if we waited for it it would set our house back months. UGH! Again, we had picked everything out to match so changing one thing really messed up everything. We ended up with very few choices to change to and we were bummed. Then while we were in Bear Lake our decorator called and said the company felt so bad about the flooring that they were offering us a hickory floor that they would stain by hand once it was laid in our house to match the stain of the one we had originally picked. SWEET!
We had some window drama too. They put the wrong ones in. It set our house back a few weeks but we finally got them fixed.
Dry wall and closets
Soffit and facia
Stucco
Hardwood before staining
Cabinets!
Rock
Our circular cement
A terrible picture of the house all done!
