Christmas Tree Permit 2010

Ah, the first weekend in November is here again. We were up at 4:00 am and had everyone dressed and in the car by about 4:30. There is something entertaining (after getting over how tired you are) about driving in the early November morning with Christmas music blaring ready to start the holiday season.

The boys all ready to get in the car.
We made it to Soldier Hollow (where we get the permit) around 5:30 am.

It was cold.

Some of us stayed in the car while some waited in line. We got a good spot in line but there were lots of other people and the line kept growing and growing.

Graham entertained himself by laying on the floor and playing the ipod.

And of course the real reason I am willing to get up so early...the raspberry filled powdered doughnuts!

Jonah looks really sleepy as he eats his. (I don't know why this pic is crooked)

Right before 8am when they open the doors Beckham woke up. We bundled him up and he waited in line with us for the last few minutes. Once we had our permit in hand it was back to the car.

(Again, random crooked picture)

Sometimes we stop for breakfast on the way home but we needed to get Graham to school so we hurried back. As we passed Deer Creek there was steam rising off of it. Super pretty.

3 more weeks and we'll head back out to cutter down :).

I love traditions. This sounds so exciting and like such an incredible family tradition. Too bad I've always been a fake tree person so I guess we can't copy this great idea.

You're nuts! I love our tradition of a mid-afternoon trek out to the garage to get our artificial tree. Sometimes Eric doesn't even put on his coat.
