PTA

This year Mandi W. and I have been doing the birthday table for PTA. Once a month we go to the school, blow up balloons, decorate a table, and then have all the kids whose birthday is that month come and get a water bottle and a treat. We sing "Happy Birthday" to them and do our little cha, cha, chas! Jonah is always there to help and his favorite part is blowing up the balloons with the helium tank.

I'm also still helping with Gold Medal Schools. Ok, so Amy R. really does all the work I'm just moral support. Anyway, to reach our goal for the year we needed to do some kind of faculty fitness program. Amy had a great idea, for the month of February the faculty would earn tickets for healthy things they did or non healthy things they didn't do. At the end of the month there is a drawing for $50!!! We named it Flab-u-less February! I volunteered Mandi W. to make this sign for it. So cute!

There is always an opportunity to serve at the school and get involved. Initially I thought helping at the school would allow me to spend more time with Graham....WRONG! If I want to spend time with Graham I need to be a room mom or volunteer in the classroom (which I do). Still, getting involved in the PTA is a good thing. It's community service. It gives me a better understanding of what is going on at the school and a chance to talk to administrators there. It is a fun place to meet and get to know other parents of students. Helping in the PTA doesn't mean you have to make cotton candy for hours on end (though that happened) and you don't have to hand out frozen cookie dough for an entire day (though that happened too). Its just another way to serve and get involved. :)

I haven't done PTA because I couldn't see how you fit it in with classroom hours too. You do so much and are so appreciated, I'm sure.
