This was going to be dinner
I cut up some pitas into triangles and needed to toast them for just a minute. I knew I shouldn't put the broil on high but I was trying to be fast. All I had to do was run out and yell to Graham to come in (which by the way I had already asked him to do so this whole mess could really be blamed on him.:)). Anyway, when I went out to call for him I saw this lady who is new on my visiting teaching list and was super hard to get a hold of so I thought I better hurry and say hi. Well, in the name of visiting teaching I was outside forever chatting with my dinner inside broiling on high. I just kept thinking that the Lord won't let my house burn down when I'm trying to do visiting teaching. By the time I got back into the house the oven had smoke billowing out of the vent. When I tried to open the oven door there was so much smoke I had to close it. To make a long story short the above pic is what I ended up with. Oops-a-daisy.On a happier note I hadn't toasted all the pitas yet so we still had some for dinner and we put this bruschetta stuff on them that is so yummy so here is the recipe if you feel like trying something new...just don't broil on HIGH.
Bruschetta
1 lb. Tomatoes (seed, core, cube)
2 oz. Feta
2 T. Balsamic Vinegar
2 T. Olive Oil
2 T. Italian Parsley (I use the dried Italian Seasoning)
2 T. Fresh Basil ( I used 1 T. dried basil)
1 Clove Garlic
Salt
Pepper
Dash Red Pepper Flakes
Mix it all together and put it on any bread toasted.

Sounds yummy! I am so glad that you didn't burn your house down. It can happen ya know! I talk from experience! And of course you blame the kid...isn't that what your suppose to do!
That sounds so yummy! I'm laughing about you visiting teaching while your house is burning down! Glad you still had some you could salvage so you didn't go hungry!
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who has done that!! You're a trooper, I headed for McDonald's after that. I will be trying that recipe. Sounds great!
We love bruschetta! The recipe I have is similar except no cheese and you add finely chopped olives and capers. I will have to try your version. I am glad your house is still standing.
that sounds really good, but that pic... doesn't look very good. better luck next time and I am sure you will be blessed for your VT efforts.
So you should totally be able to count that VT for at least 3 months right? (since you about sacrificed your house because of it :)). I'll have to give the recipe a try.
That picture is worth a thousand words. I'm really glad that I'm not the only one who thinks about food burning in my oven when I'm out talking with people. Crazy!
Last I heard they were in their front yard waiting for ward members to come and pick them up, but there is so much debris on the roads it was taking a really long time to get there. The church is taking care of them. we all feel helpless. My mom is driving out there right now. They have insurance and their house and cars should be taken care of by that. It was more just really traumatic for her 7 and 9 year olds. Thank goodness for the church!
That picture looks cool, kinda artistic or some such.
